ORDER AND SEASONAL AVAILABILITY NOTICE
During colder months, especially winter, live insects may grow more slowly or temporarily reduce reproduction due to lower temperatures. As a result, certain sizes may be limited or unavailable at times.
If the exact size you ordered is not available, we may substitute with a slightly different size to avoid delays in shipping.
For example:
If a specific feeder size is temporarily unavailable, we may send the closest appropriate size available
CHOOSING THE RIGHT FEEDER SIZE
As a general feeding guideline:
• Feeder insects should be no larger than the space between your reptile’s eyes
• Smaller feeders are always safer than oversized feeders
• Juvenile reptiles should receive smaller, appropriately sized prey
If you have specific size requirements or concerns, please contact us before placing your order.
SHIPPING POLICY
We strongly recommend selecting Express (1-Day) Shipping for all live insect orders to ensure the safest and fastest delivery.
Live orders are typically shipped Monday–Tuesday to avoid weekend transit delays.
Please note:
• Delivery to some provinces may take longer than 1 day
• Maximum recommended transit time for live feeders is 2 days
• We are not responsible for carrier delays once the package has been shipped
WINTER TIME SHIPPING (INSULATION AND HEAT PAD)
During cold weather, an additional $6 winter packaging fee will apply.
This fee covers:
• Insulated packaging on all six sides of the box
• Heat pack (when required)
• Larger shipping box when necessary
Because insulation increases the box size and overall package weight, shipping costs may increase. Carrier rates are primarily based on box dimensions (dimensional weight), not just actual weight. The winter packaging fee helps offset these additional costs.
During periods of persistent extreme cold, shipping live insects may be temporarily delayed to ensure safe arrival.
Although we use insulated packaging and heat packs during winter, temperatures above approximately -1°C are considered ideal for safe transit. Even with a heat pack, extremely low outdoor temperatures may still pose risks during transport and delivery.
Heat packs generate warmth through a natural oxidation process and provide temporary heat inside the insulated box. However:
• Heat packs are not permanent heat sources
• They provide limited hours of warmth
• Performance can be affected by extreme cold and transit conditions
For customers located within Ontario:
• When possible, we may arrange local weekend delivery as an alternative option during extreme cold periods.
For customers outside Ontario:
• Orders may be held until temperatures improve to safer levels.
These precautions are taken to protect the health and safety of all live insects.
We appreciate your patience and understanding, as weather conditions are beyond our control.
Our priority is the safe arrival of all live insects.
CUSTOMER’S RESPOSIBILITIES
Once your order has shipped, a tracking number will be sent to the email provided at checkout.
It is the customer’s responsibility to:
• Monitor the tracking information
• Ensure someone is home to receive the package
• Retrieve the package promptly after delivery
Although all live insect packages are clearly labeled “Room Temperature Only”, we do not have control over UPS, Purolator, or other shipping carriers. Delivery drivers may:
• Leave packages at the door
• Deliver without ringing the doorbell
• Deliver in rain, snow, or cold weather conditions
We are not responsible for packages that are left outside after delivery due to the customer not monitoring tracking updates or not being available to receive the package.
If necessary, we are able to retrieve carrier delivery confirmation and delivery photo evidence.
To avoid issues, we strongly recommend:
• Choosing express shipping
• Tracking your package closely
• Ensuring someone is available to receive the delivery
The health and safety of live insects depends greatly on prompt retrieval after delivery.
LOCAL PICK UP POLICY
Local pick-up is available by appointment.
• Standard pick-up time is before 9:00 AM
• Same-day pick-up is available after 7:00 PM only
Depending on weather conditions, orders may be placed outside the door in a white insulated styrofoam box for contactless pick-up.
Please note:
• Live feeders will not be left outside during extremely cold or extremely hot weather
• Pick-up availability may be adjusted based on temperature for the safety of the insects
Customers are responsible for arriving at the scheduled pick-up time. Once the order is placed outside for pick-up, we are not responsible for delays in collection.
🪰 Blue Bottle Fly Development Note (Read this before ordering)
Blue bottle flies develop quickly, especially at room temperature. Due to their rapid life cycle, it is not guaranteed that all larvae will arrive in the same stage of development.
Some larvae may pupate during transit and may arrive as pupae. Within a few days, these pupae will naturally emerge as adult blue bottle flies.
Development Timeline (Approximate)
• Egg → Larva: 1–2 days
• Larva stage: 3–5 days
• Pupae stage: 4–7 days
• Adult emergence: Typically within 7–14 days total from egg, depending on temperature
Warmer temperatures accelerate development, while cooler temperatures slow the process.
This natural variation is normal and does not affect feeder quality. Send us the pictures if you have any concern
